Wing-lovers of all ages are invited to come out to Elmwood Park in Downtown Roanoke from 11 am-7 pm on August 27th to enjoy the Roanoke Wing Fest.
With some of the best wings Southwest Virginia has to offer, you’re in for a treat when you come sample wings from local restaurants and enjoy live music, beer, and tailgate tournaments all day! Choose your favorite wings while you sample, and there will be judges present to pick the official Best Wing in Roanoke.
Wing vendors for 2011 include:
- Awful Arthurs
- Blues BBQ Co.
- Bull & Bones Brewhaus
- Corned Beef and Co.
- Rick’s BBQ & Catering
- The Village Grill
- Thelma’s Chicken & Waffles
- & more! (the list keeps growing)
The Wing Fest will feature some of the area’s best rock music. The concert schedule is not set yet, but you can check back at the event website for updates.
If you’re in a competitive mood, grab a friend and enter your team into the 2011 Tailgate Games at the Wing Fest. Two person teams compete to pick the best Cornhole players. Games start at 2 pm, and the top 3 teams will receive trophies. The winner will receive an unannounced grand prize! To enter your two-man team into the tournament, send an email to [email protected]
In addition, the event is family friendly so there is also a Kids Tailgate Games area where the kids can play cornhole, sponsored by Woods Service Centers. Keep the kids entertained while you enjoy your wings and other festival fares!
Wing related contests and games will happen all day at the wing fest.
Tickets are only $5 for adults and kids 12 and under are free. Small sample packs of wings will be sold by each wing vendor so you or your group can try them all!
The wing fest proceeds benefit the Brain Injury Services of Southwest Virginia, so you will be eating and enjoying the live entertainment for a worthy cause. Learn more about their cause at their website here.
