The 2013 Flotilla for Toys Boat Parade of Lights has been scheduled for Saturday, November 30th from 7p-9m.

Participants adorn their boats with holiday decorations, lighting up Smith Mountain Lake with festive holiday lights.

The flotilla begins at Virginia Dare Marina at 7pm, arriving at Halesford Bridge at approximately 8pm before circling back to port.

The annual event is coordinated by the Virginia Dare and Lake Christian Ministries to collect toys for local children of need.

If you’d like to register your boat to be a part of the Flotilla, call 540-297-7100 or click on the “Ask a Question” tab on the website. Captains and guests must bring at least one new, unwrapped toy as a donation.

Tickets are also being sold for those who would like to ride aboard the lead boat, the Virginia Dare, with Santa and Rudolph. Adults are $35 and children 12 and under are $25. The price includes the two hour cruise, hors d’oeuvres and a host of holiday-themed treats. A cash bar will also be available.
